Reiki is one of the oldest systems of natural healing (pronounced ray-key)

What is Reiki?
Reiki works by boosting the immune system and supporting the body's own healing ability. It is a gentle therapy that involves light touch whilst the client lies still, making it very relaxing. This also means that even painful parts of the body can be treated comfortably.
Reiki evolved in Japan through the experience and dedication of a Japanese man called Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). 'Reiki' is a Japanese word meaning 'Universal Life Energy' or 'Universal Life Force'. Universal energy passes through all living things - known as ‘ki’ in Japan, ‘chi’ in China and ‘prana’ in India.
Reiki flows through the practitioner to the client through the chakras (energy centres throughout the body). A transfer of energy takes place, not unlike jump-leads re-charging a car battery. Old energy is released and replaced, inducing feelings of calm and clarity.

Receiving reiki healing is deeply relaxing. Snuggle under a fleece blanket in soft lighting whilst gentle music is played, allowing you to let go of tension and stress and return to your centre of calm and clarity ( yes, it's in there!)
What happens during a Reiki session?
Clients often experience immediate sensations of relaxation and express a better sense of well-being after a session of reiki. Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy; mild tingling, warmth, other sensations, or nothing at all. I have known clients to fall asleep during a session of reiki; they became so relaxed.
I use visualisation with Reiki. This enables the client to engage with their goal for the session. Emotional Stress Release points (light holding points on the forehead) are used as well as anything else from my 'kinesiology tool box' that is needed by the individual. Sessions are goal focused, so we are always working towards what you want in the short and long term. Individual recommendations are given at the close of each session.
Reiki can help you get in touch with your intuition. I am often given insights - words (which are nothing to do with my own thoughts or feelings), which support my clients whilst working with reiki healing (although this is not something I can guarentee - it happens when appropriate to the client). My own experience of reiki in the long term has been one of calmness, wellness, self and spiritual development; allowing me to come home to myself and fully be and express who I am.
Reiki is a complementary therapy that can be practiced safely alongside conventional medicine and other therapies. Reiki sessions are carried out fully clothed on a couch.
